Question: Why is ketamine therapy valuable in treating mental health and chronic pain?

This is so valuable because there are so many people out there who traditional treatments have failed now, and this is an option that works totally different than anything else.

“There are so many people out there who traditional treatments have failed… and this is an option that works totally different than anything else.”

For mood, it works by actually regrowing nerve cells and strengthening them and normalizing the function again.

For chronic pain, it helps by stopping the pain cycle in the spinal cord in a way that narcotics or other medications can’t.

“This is a really powerful medication… not just for people who other things haven’t worked for, but for people who want a first-line option.”

So this is a really powerful medication that’s an option for not just people who other things haven’t worked for them, but really, for people who want a first line—even to come in and try something that’s maybe not a daily pill or not a long-term therapy option.

Of course, those things still have a role, and we encourage our patients to look into those things and continue them.

I use the analogy of, you know, a truck being stuck in the mud. The other medications are kind of like you’re slowly pushing that truck out and trying to get it out, and sometimes it just won’t get out. But ketamine is like jarring it out. It’s like a big hit—moves it out of that mud quick, gets people feeling better, and then they can continue on with their other treatments and then have a maintenance plan for the ketamine.

Ketamine therapy is such a great resource for patients who are struggling with their depression, PTSD, anxiety.

“The most common thing I hear from patients is that they wish they would have tried it sooner.”

I’ve seen it help so many people, and the most common thing I hear from patients is that they wish they would have tried sooner.

And I just can’t emphasize how important it is for people to educate and explain this valuable option for people to look into. And I hope that it becomes more widely used. And it’s wonderful.
