Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
What is KAP: Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy, or KAP, at Northwest Ketamine Clinics combines medical ketamine treatment with follow-up integration to help support deeper healing. During your infusion, ketamine is given in a safe, supervised setting to help reduce emotional intensity and create more openness and flexibility in your thinking. Within 24 to 48 hours after each infusion, you meet with a licensed therapist to process your experience, reflect on any shifts, and turn insights into practical changes in your daily life. The medication does not replace therapy. Instead, it can help make therapeutic work feel more accessible, especially for those who have felt stuck with traditional approaches.
Who Is a Good Fit for KAP?
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy may be a good fit for individuals who feel stuck in traditional therapy or have not found enough relief from medication alone. It can be especially helpful for those experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, or long-standing patterns that feel difficult to shift.
KAP works best for people who are open to reflection and willing to engage in a therapy session within 24 to 48 hours after their infusion. The ketamine can create a window of openness, and the follow-up therapy helps turn that window into practical, lasting change.
The Process
1. Chat With an Expert
Speak with a knowledgeable team member about your symptoms, treatment history, and goals to see if KAP is the right fit for you.
2. Pre-Treatment Preparation and Intake
Meet with our licensed therapist to set goals, discuss mindset, and learn helpful tools to support you throughout your treatment series.
3. Receive Your IV Ketamine Infusion
Relax in a calm, private setting during your 90-minute IV infusion experience.
4. The Ketamine Experience
During your infusion, you may enter a dream-like state that allows new insights, perspectives, and motivations to surface.
5. Integration Session
One to two days after each infusion, you’ll meet with your therapist to reflect on your experience and turn insights into meaningful daily change.
6. Experience Meaningful Relief
Many patients report significant symptom improvement within just a few weeks, helping them feel lighter, clearer, and more hopeful.
The KAP Advantage: Beyond Traditional Talk Therapy
Traditional therapy relies on conversation, reflection, and skill-building while you are in your usual state of mind. Progress can be steady, but sometimes it feels slow or stuck, especially when emotions feel intense or patterns feel deeply rooted.
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy is different because it combines medical ketamine treatment with a structured integration session within 24 to 48 hours after each infusion. The ketamine can temporarily lower emotional intensity and increase mental flexibility, which may make it easier to look at thoughts and experiences from a new perspective.
The integration session helps you process what came up and turn any shifts or insights into practical changes in your daily life. The medication does not replace therapy. Instead, it can help make ongoing therapeutic work feel more accessible and meaningful.
I already have a Therapist
Ketamine infusions can open the door to deeper healing and self-understanding. After each infusion, you’ll meet with our licensed, ketamine-experienced therapist for an integration session. This is a safe space to talk through what came up and what feels new or different. Those conversations can help you get even more out of your regular therapy sessions and keep the momentum going in your healing journey.
I don’t have a Therapist
KAP can be a powerful way to begin healing, even if you have never worked with a therapist before. Our program is designed to support you at every step. You will meet with our ketamine-experienced therapist before you begin your series and then after each infusion for integration. These sessions give you a safe space to talk through what came up and make sense of your experience. Over time, this support can help you build healthier thought patterns and face life’s challenges with more clarity and resilience.
Our Professional Partnerships
Northwest Ketamine Clinics is proud to partner with Karis Collective and Gray Area Counseling Services as our licensed, experienced integration therapists. At our clinic, we focus on integration support after your infusions. Through these partnerships, you also have the option to continue traditional talk therapy with the same therapists after your treatment series is complete.
This allows you to keep building on the progress you’ve made with ketamine and continue the relationship you’ve already started with your integration therapist. Both organizations understand that finding providers who work together to support your whole health, mind and body, can be challenging. That’s why we work closely as a team to help make your care feel connected and supported.
