Michelle:
I was suggested to ketamine therapy by both my PCP and my therapist.
They both said, I feel like this is something that you personally would benefit from.
And I was scared. And I was nervous. And I thought I would be judged.
“But I couldn’t have asked for a more calming environment—and more understanding people.”
You wake up from it, and I remember thinking, Yeah, okay. I can do this. I can do this.
My main worry was, Oh, I’m going to go through all of this, I’m going to pay this money, I’m going to put all this time into it, and it’s going to be like everything else and not work.
So the fact that I feel like it’s working—I see it working—is huge.
“In this one, it’s both me saying I’m doing better—and other people saying I’m doing better too.”
Because I’ve been in different therapies before where friends and family would say, Oh, you seem like you’re doing so much better—but I didn’t feel like I was doing better.
But with this? I feel it. And they see it.
I could go all day without an anxiety attack.
I noticed again that I wanted to be able to get up out of bed and face the day.
And I could turn the ringer on on my phone.
And I haven’t had the ringer on since probably age five.
“I remember thinking, I can turn this on—because I can handle whatever comes through.”
Looking back, if I could tell myself anything, it’s that—yeah, those are some substantial investments, but you’re investing in yourself. And they’re absolutely worth it.
For those people that are still struggling, and still trying everything, and asking, What else can I do?—that’s who needs ketamine.
“It’s absolutely worth a try.”
